AQUALOC | Waterproof At The Stroke Of A Brush

COMPOSITION:

Aqualoc is a copolymer Latex Waterproofing compound.

PROPERTIES AND USES:

Aqualoc is formulated with the highest quality fillers, pigments and film control agents for maximum waterproofing and elasticity properties. Aqualoc is waterbased and offers a simple method for many waterproofing and vapour proofing applications

FEATURES / ADVANTAGES:
• Good adhesion to substrates.
• Dries quickly- approx. 1 hour.
• Non-toxic, contains no plasticisers or solvents
• Tough, durable and highly flexible.
• Non staining and stain blocking.
• Can be applied to damp substrates.
• Resistant to silage acids & alkali.
USES

• Roofs - main waterproof system.
• Walls - damp proof membrane on top of or underneath plaster, above or below ground level.
• Floors - damp proof membrane above and below screeds.
• Tiling - waterproof under tiles in bathrooms and on balconies.
• Water and silage storage tanks
• Fish ponds and water features

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Surfaces should be free of loose particles, wire brush if necessary and dampen (no surface water) prior to application. Substrates should be smooth, fill all brick joints, holes in concrete etc. before applying Aqualoc.
APPLICATION:

Aqualoc may be applied by brush, roller or airless spray. Aqualoc should be applied in two coats at right angles across each other, each coat a minimum of 0,3mm thick, to obtain a thickness of 0,6mm.The first coat must be touch dry before applying the second coat (approx. 1 hour). Do not leave longer than 24hours between coats.

Avoid applying Aqualoc in temperatures of higher than 40 deg C or onto substrates which are over 40 deg C in temperature e.g. I.B.R. or corrugated iron roofs at mid day. Do not apply Aqualoc in temperatures below 4 deg C or onto substrates of below 4 deg C.
To improve adhesion to the substrate, either brush the first coat on aggressively with a stiff brush or apply a slurry coat of A-Shak (Pty) Ltd Tileloc and cement and allow to dry for 48hours before applying the Aqualoc.
At high stress points such as wall or floor junctions, it is recommended that a fabric re-enforcement ±0.5mm thick, be used. Bed the membrane into the first coat. Allow the first coat to become tacky before applying the second coat.

When Aqualoc is applied in areas which will be exposed to direct sunlight it is recommended that two coats of good PVA paint be applied over the Aqualoc to protect it from UV damage. Allow Aqualoc to dry for 4 days before attempting any waterproof tests.

ADHESION

Will adhere to concrete, brick, lightweight blocks, plasterboard, lead, plywood, ceramic tiles and steel. A primer of Tileloc (from A-Shak (Pty) Ltd.) and cement enhances the bond strength to concrete, brick, ceramic tiles and steel.

COVERAGE

Total for all coats to a minimum of 0.6mm - 1 litre/m².

STORAGE

Must be stored in closed containers between +5°C and +35°C and protected from direct sunlight.
